Since our inception, Torchbearers has impacted the Akron community through volunteerism, development of young leaders, and engaging an active alumni network. We believe that the Greater Akron community deserves community collaboration, and leadership development. We continue to fulfill this part of our mission by recruiting a diverse set of members each year and fulfilling the needs of area non-profits.

COMMUNITY IMPACT
Every year, our Community Impact Committee takes requests from Akron area non-profits with requests for volunteers. Our membership is focused on serving our community, but this committee reviews requests to give our membership the opportunity to volunteer every month throughout the year.

Building Greater Akron’s next generation of leaders is one of the tenets of Torchbearers. We aim to boost our membership’s leadership, communication, and collaboration skills through our Leadership & Development curriculum. But we also strive to connect our members to one another, forging lasting friendships.

ALUMNI IMPACT
Our alumni are hard-working leaders who continue to make an impact throughout Greater Akron. Former Torchbearers serve on boards, volunteer in the community, consistently earn leadership awards, and contribute to local business and non-profit success.
The mission of the Torchbearers Members & Alumni group is to provide a way for alumni to engage with each other, current members, and to create volunteer opportunities. All former Torchbearers are encouraged to remain active through this group. The group offers a variety of community service and social opportunities throughout the year and is a great way to maintain a strong network of servant leaders.
